Changing Times
We got back from a month away from Asheville, and I'm feeling decidedly curmudgeonly. I was preparing this painting of a railroad tank by my studio for a Chamber of Commerce exhibit, only to discover that someone had painted over the graffitti with a cheesy mural. Then yesterday I noticed that they had removed the pay phone and sign from the side of the Montford Convenience Store. That payphone was a monument.
The world is turning just a little too fast.

Deer Isle Artists Association 12 x 12 Fundraiser
I'm dropping off five small paintings at the Deer Isle Artists Association gallery for a fundraiser show that opens Friday, August 7 and runs through August 20. There will be 63 artists participating in the show, and all works will sell for $144 each. It's a great opportunity to pick up works by local artists. This painting of the Clam Factory will be included among my paintings.
